Follow through is necessary to be successful. This may sound trivial, or so obvious that is doesn’t need mentioning, but it really does. For some, following through is as hard as making a cold call for a shy personality. Each of us is different in so many ways. Often we forget that our strengths are someone else’s weakness. Likewise, someone else’s strength may be our weakness. Regardless of which side of the fence you may be on, there is clearly a group of folks that suffer from bad follow through. We all have experienced the bad trait from others occasionally. I generally move on to someone else to provide the product or service that has been unprofessionally withheld from me or my business.
Follow Through is Necessary!
Bad follow through will destroy your ability to be successful in business. Return those phone calls, answer those emails that require a response, and don’t forget social media. It sounds simple; however, for some of us this is difficult. Good business practice requires several things. Good follow through is one of those things.
Treat other people and other businesses as you and your business expect to be treated. For some, this is as simple as can be. For others this is a chore. If this is a chore for you begin to develop a plan to improve in the area of following through. Each morning before your business day begins or before your business day ends review the folks that may need to be contacted. Start a follow through list and every time you think of someone who needs contact write it on this list. Then follow through and complete this task now! Don’t end your day without a complete review of your follow through list. Come on, you can do it. Mastering this will improve what people think of you and your business.
