Negative People are Positive

How in the world can negative people be positive? That doesn’t make any sense! Well, actually it does. Let’s discuss what I mean by this. Every group that has something to accomplish should have a small number of negative people within that group. They will provide the leadership or management of that group with a very valuable service. You only need one or two of these less than positive people. A large number of negative people will disrupt and/or destroy your efforts to accomplish almost anything. Always limit the number of these people within your group.

Negative People can Help your Business;

Surrounding yourself with positive people sounds like the correct thing to do. Don’t you want to be around positive people? Sure, I do too! In life, positive people are more fun to be around than negative people. Positive people will lift you up, and they will encourage you. Positive people are more successful than negative ones. That’s all true. Then what is going on with this negative is positive thing?

When a business is planning a big event, or an important change of any kind, smart management will always include negative people. I told you earlier that these folks provide a “very valuable service”. Well, here it is! The negative people will tell you the down side to your plans. They will point out why your plans won’t work. They will tip you off to a bad decision with their negativity. They will alert you to almost every crack in the road that your positive, and yes men won’t tell you. Listen to them and make the adjustments that make real sense. Dismiss the bad thoughts. By allowing the negative comments to be brought forward, management is given the opportunity to listen to, and evaluate these negative ideas that may prevent a disaster in the making. At the very least they will make your plans better. Who doesn’t want a better plan?

You can learn more from people who disagree with you than you can from people that agree with you! A different point of view is necessary to confirm the truth. While a different point of view may appear negative and combative, it can help alert you to some necessary changes. Use this difference to reevaluate your plans. You may be surprised when I tell you that this will make you a better manager or leader. It will, I promise!
